I’ve sold records at Sam the Record Man and jewelry from a cart in a mall. I’ve been a baker and advocate for BC’s temperate rainforests. I was even in a band once, but that didn’t last long. No one liked our David Duchovny song.
In the early nineteen nineties, I moved to Vancouver where my little world went kaploooie! I’ve been deeply afflicted with Bi-coastal Personality Disorder ever since.
I’ve lived for short periods of time in some of Canada’s most Northern communities: Igloolik, Nunavut and Délįne, NWT. I called the banks of the Yukon home for about six weeks during an archeology field school in 1999. I lived in Edmonton for 3 years and one day. While there, I completed a Master of Arts degree in cultural anthropology at the University of Alberta.
My husband and I live in Halifax where we’ve carved out a life for ourselves in this east coast harbor town.
My current work at the Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network finds me bridging Aboriginal and academic communities, helping facilitate collaborative community-based research. And travelling – a lot.
Music has been huge in my life since I can remember … and so has Star Wars, but that sounds like a couple of blog posts I should write, doesn’t it?
From record-shop girl to anthropologist, the one constant in my life has always been writing. A grade nine journaling assignment earned the comment, “You do like to write, don’t you? Actually, I really enjoyed it. And you do have a talent for narrative!”
I started work on my current novel in 2012.

I think of you often and I miss so much things that we have shared.
I moved from COCQ-SIDA, AIDS research and mobilization. I am currently employed by ÉNAP (École nationale d’administration public – Public administration School) and University of Montreal – to do a narrative review and case based studies about physicians methods of payment. I enjoy! Also, I’m taking an English writing (Scientific writing) class that is almost finished (April 21th). I will come back here to read more from you.
Oh! And the book on community-based reserach will finaly be published in August 2015!!!

I started working with an editor in March and I’m in the depths of another re-write … this one is getting me MUCH closer to my original vision, which is very exciting! Maybe it just took time to get me there, but it’s coming along nicely.

Grade 9 seems to be a magical time to discover ones passions. I had a writing assignment that had a two page minimum. I wrote 42 pages. I also discovered guitar and music in general at this time.
